An open-back Toyota pick-up, bearing license plate number 91-GP, which was traveling from Gbarnga to Gbatala in Bong County recently crashed into the bank of the road in Malekie Town, 10 kilometers from Gbarnga, killing the driver instantly along with three others on board the vehicle.

The accident occurred when the driver, identified as Prince Gbemelen, lost total control of his steering. The blue pick-up then somersaulted and rolled over three times and landed into the raven at about 10: P.M.

FORUM’s Bong County correspondent who visited the accident scene gathered that the driver was transporting delegates who had assembled in Taylor’s Town, outside Gbatala to attend this year’s annual conference of United Methodist Church in the area.

A lady believed to be in her 30s, only identified as “Victoria Fumbgeh,” died instantly when the car crashed and burst her head, while another woman in her 40s( name not disclosed) died a minute after she was rushed at the Phebe, the only referral hospital in Bong County.

Two of the accident victims died as a result of profuse bleeding while several others were on critical list.
Some of the victims were transferred to Monrovia for further treatment.

One confirmed report says, passengers on board the vehicle were all relatives of Bong County Assemblyman Cllr. Francis Y.S. Garlawolo.

About 20 persons were reported to be on board the vehicle.
